The Solutionaries

The stories of the visionaries who turn bold climate solutions into reality.

The premise

The world doesn't have a shortage of bold ideas. What's missing is the ability to scale and accelerate them.

The Solutionaries tells the story of three visionaries who are solving the climate crisis at scale — and the project management discipline that's turning their ambition into reality.

There's a Solutionary with an idea — and a project management team ready to make it a reality.

This is what it looks like when imagination meets execution.

The three stories

Three founders. Three ideas. One discipline behind them all.

Parley for the Oceans

Parley for the Oceans

Cyrill Gutsch

A German-born designer turned ocean conservationist, Cyrill founded Parley to bring creators, thinkers, and brands together around a single mission: ending marine plastic pollution before it ends the ocean.

Rebecca Hu-Thrams

Rebecca is building the infrastructure to turn one of the world's most overlooked waste streams into a climate solution — proving that some of the biggest opportunities in sustainability are hiding in plain sight.

Air Protein

Air Protein

Dr. Lisa Dyson

A physicist turned founder, Lisa is reimagining how the world feeds itself — creating protein from air, water, and a fraction of the land and resources industrial agriculture requires.

Each episode follows one Solutionary's idea from imagination to impact — and the often-invisible project management discipline that made the leap possible.

Why we made this

Every brand wants to tell a values-driven story. Almost none know how to do it without sounding like a lecture.

Good Is The New Cool's approach is different: don't make it about the brand. Make it about the people already doing the work. Tell their story with the same craft and ambition as the best documentary filmmaking — directed by Academy Award nominee Edward Buckles Jr.

And let the brand's role be exactly what it actually is: the reason this story got told at all. That's the formula behind The Solutionaries. It's also the formula behind every story Good Is The New Cool makes.

The partnership

Built with PMI. Produced with TIME Studios.

The Solutionaries was built with the Project Management Institute, the world's leading authority for project professionals. PMI came to us with a real insight hiding behind a perception problem: nobody thinks about project management — but it's the actual mechanism behind nearly every climate solution that makes it out of the lab.

Our job was to find that insight and turn it into a story people would actually want to watch. TIME Studios brought the production skills, editorial credibility and reach to put it in front of a global audience — without ever making it feel like an ad.

PMI didn't get a commercial. PMI got a movement.

Good is the New Cool came to us with an idea that perfectly aligned with what we wanted to show for our profession and the potential impact project management can have on elevating our world. Their vision, creativity and collaborative spirit helped us create a beautiful series with impactful storytelling.

Perfect for brands that…

01

Have made climate, sustainability or impact commitments and want to prove it, not just announce it.

02

Want to align with credible, third-party storytelling instead of brand-led messaging.

03

Need an asset their internal teams, sales force, and external partners can all use — without it ever looking like it was made by the brand.

The connective tissue

The Solutionaries started as a strategic narrative project with our sister company, Conspiracy of Love — who helped PMI find and articulate the purpose behind this idea before a single frame was shot. Strategy to story. That's how it always starts.
